Dunton Veterinary Clinic is a veterinary practice that also operates boarding kennels and is listed as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility. Recent reviews show a split experience: several owners describe vets and nurses handling reactive or nervous dogs in ways that keep visits calm (for example, managing a dog-reactive dog to keep stress down for other pets), while a small number of reviewers report serious issues around unexpected cost changes and communication.
Concrete details mentioned include: owners being able to “pop in” when worried (where time is made available), pets receiving treats/cuddles to reduce anxiety, and boarding kennels described by one reviewer as unheated in winter (blankets used instead), with a quoted two-week stay costing “£1000+”.

Following my recent visit I found the care and professionalism of the Vet, and staff second to none. Both my spaniel, Chester and I, found the whole experience a pleasant one.

Secretary was only good thing. The owner was rude, passive aggressive and literally held me to ransom. Having been quoted for the treatment I agreed to this. I then turned up and was told needed to pay an extra 600 and she was going to hold my pet as ransom until I raised this extra money which was not discussed or mentioned at any point! Disgusting behaviour do not use this place!! And the owner/ main vets attitude throughout this was shocking and unprofessional doesn't even come close.

Jackie and the team have always taken great care of our dog. We’ve tried a couple of other vets in the Tamworth area before Dunton Vets and I didn’t feel like they had my dogs best interests at heart. We wouldn’t go anywhere else now!

I have used this practice ever since it opened. I have always had very good service, the staff are all experienced, very caring towards the animals and cannot do enough to assist with any problems. I have four or five mature animals (rescue). Who are always in need of attention and am confident that any problem that may arise will quickly be dealt with.

Boarding kennels - only suitable for farm/barn dogs. I’m sure it’s fine in the summer but the kennels are not built for winter boarding. I asked if there was heating & she said no, we just throw some more blankets down for them if it’s cold 😬! It’s a wooden building, seemed to be single skin. Also quoted more than ‘the grove’ (luxury, underfloor heated, seperate rooms not cells) please go view this place before you leave your beloved pets here. I would never! 👎 Edit to response… I saw the heat lamp which is why I questioned the young girl about heating, she said ‘we don’t have heating, we throw down more blankets’, No I don’t bring my Dogs to yourselves, they usually go to the grove but was fully booked. I came to check the kennels out before boarding as I needed to check suitability first… I was initially greeted by Caroline & the yard cat at the veterinary clinic, both of which were pleasant… Caroline walked me down past the lovely, well kept stables … to the kennels… they were extremely depressing, run down & many kennels rammed into each section in the same big ‘shed/stable block’ with a tiny outside play area which you’d struggle to park a car in, that’s how spacious it was, not! She did advise they’d be walked around the countryside which is beautiful but not worth the £1000+ for the 2wks… jokers! Sorry for the honest, bad review, but you need to do better! Worst kennels I’ve viewed.

Since opening in Middleton we have taken our daft bull breeds here. They are fantastic with them, understand that one is dog reactive & ensure the visits are stress free for both ours & other pets in at the time. If we have any worries time is made available for us to pop in, and the pups look forward to the cuddles & treats so are not at all nervous when we go. Highly recommended!

I had my 3 dogs here since we moved to Tamworth and must say the treatment and care is exceptional. All staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the admin side really lets the place down and creates a lot of stress and pressure when all you want is answers. The number of times I had to chase for bills and answers were unbelievable. Promised call backs that never happened. To be made to phone the insurance company whilst there was nothing short of embarrassing. I appreciate there are good intentions, the cost and process is somewhat erratic. It doesn’t help with the stigma that vets face due to negative publicity of late. I do however wish them every success in the future and hope the admin side is sorted out, because the care and treatment is very good.
