#1 Vet in Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire
Scarsdale Veterinary Group is an RCVS-accredited practice offering both routine care (like vaccinations and neutering) and more specialist support including a rehabilitation and hydrotherapy suite, alongside access to a small animal hospital (per the clinic’s website). The website also states 24/7 emergency care is provided via its own “Vets at Night” service based at Pride Veterinary Centre.
Recent reviews include specific positives around practical, thorough consultations (one owner highlights “Hannah” giving detailed advice on claw clipping and helping a dog settle during appointments) and handling management for large/nervous dogs (options like using another entrance to avoid stressful situations). However, a minority of recent reviews describe conflicting information and cost concerns, including being told “two completely different things,” being directed to a different site with “3x” the cost, and complaints about proposed invasive testing that another vet later advised against.
Based on the website summary and reviews, services and capabilities mentioned include
4.6 stars from 332 reviews. - Owners often mention clear explanations and time taken in consultations, including practical handling advice (e.g., settling a dog for visits; claw-clipping guidance).

I wouldn't go anywhere else other than Scarsdale and have now been with them for 20 years and 3 dogs whose lives have been enhanced and cared for by Scarsdale Vets.

As an owner of a Corso, i totally appreciate that the breed comes with a reputation. The vets here get that! They understand that from an owner perspective you don’t want to be putting your pet in a situation where they are going to react. They understand that you don’t want to be upsetting other people who don’t understand big breeds or that you want them to feel threatened. They give you options and offer another entrance if needed. They don’t make you feel uncomfortable or that you have a monster. I have had that in the past. Totally recommend the Stapenhill and Derby pride park branches!

Absolutely brilliant consultation with Hannah, so thorough and informative, she gave us lots of useful advice regarding clipping claws and trying to settle our dog when attending appointments, I cannot fault the service we received

I recently moved vets after a bad experience here after being told two completely different things and then being told I need to go to pride park and spend 3x as much money when I was told I could come to the stapenhill branch as long it was before 7pm ( I called them up at 4.30 pm). The actual veterinarians are great I don’t remember the gentleman’s name but he’s helped my bunny a few times and he was brilliant but the Scarsdale company as a whole just feels so cold and takes advantage of people and their love for their pets. I couldn’t in good faith recommend this practice due to the obscene costs and how flippantly they charge depending on emergencies even when it’s during regular Monday -Friday hours. It seems that the prices are made up as they go along / can tell when someone’s vulnerable and worried for their pet. I understand it is a business and you need to pay your vets for the incredible work they do but I hope one day we can stop the pure and utter greed for the sake of all of our fur babies ( and scaly babies too!!!!)

I couldn't ask for a better veterinary practice to look after all my furry family. All staff are so helpful, caring and kind. The vets and nurses have excellent knowledge, everything is fully explained. I would highly recommend them.

We have been with Scarsdale for quite a few years. Recent few, the vets have become transactional and cold. All they are interested in is money. They've referred our elderly poorly dog for extensive and ivasive tests, that were unnecessary. Thankfully we have listened to our gut and went to a different vet for a second opinion. Not only saved further trauma and needless invasive testing and anaesthesia, but also save thousands of pounds! No wonder pet insurance is so expensive. This company is a prime example of money making, greedy attitude. They don't care about our dog. The fact they would leave her in hospital (she's a rescue and nervous) sedate and anaesthetise her unnecessary, at old age, poke and prod with needles and biopsies, that, we were told at our second consultation with a different vet, would never heal due to the area, shows they just want money. 20 min appointment and 2 prescriptions £192. Moving all our pets out of this practice.

I cannot fault this vets in any way, they are all brilliant! Reception are always so friendly and the nurses are great with my cat. In particular Serena who saw my cat today for a post-op appointment and put my mind at rest and answered all of my questions thoroughly! As much as my cat hates the vets, I love this practice and would recommend to anybody :)
